Silk was born in Fredericton located in New Brunswick Canada. She is the daughter of Peter Silk, who was a professor, and Ilkay who was a playwright as well as director. She was also known as an actress. Anna recalls her mother's work and attending play rehearsals. Silk appeared as a little girl in a variety of commercials. She was a graduate of St. Thomas University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1997. The early stage work she did has included at least two productions in collaboration with Theatre St. Thomas: Seven Menus and The Kitchen. Silk started her career in acting after moving to Toronto, Canada, in the month of November 1999. After that, she relocated from Toronto to Los Angeles for the remainder of that decade. Seth Cooperman was her future husband when she met him in 2007 during an acting workshop at Los Angeles. They were legally married in December of 2009. The couple got married in Fredericton the 10th of April in 2011, after her change to Judaism they exchanged vows in an Jewish celebration of their wedding.
